Neutral auctions can be disturbed by the opposition if they bid 1NT or higher. We can also disturb the auction, in one of five ways:
- by passing after partner has called
- by redoubling for rescue
- by opening or overcalling 2
or above
- by bidding in the neutral window without first bidding 2
or 2

- by our first call being a takeout double of one of a major
